Maple Ambassador

Fuelling the team throughout the season, maple syrup is a superb natural energy source for professional athletes.

Birmingham City Women’s Football Club (formerly Birmingham City Ladies Football Club) was formed in 1968 by a group of female fans and is in the top tier of professional women’s football.

The team has played in European competition, finished as league runners up twice and – in its most famous triumph to date – won the FA Women’s Cup in 2012.

Over the past few seasons, Maple from Canada chef ambassador David Colcombe has introduced the playing squad to pure Canadian maple syrup, using it as an alternative to processed sugars and other sweeteners.

The players have worked closely with maple products alongside the club’s sport scientist and learned how to cook nutritional meals under the watchful eye of Chef Colcombe.

Our partnership with Birmingham City Women Football Club aims to inspire young women to get active and educate them about the importance of nutrition in sport and everyday life.

Maple is an ideal source of energy as its carbohydrate content easily converts to glucose and acts as a fuel during exercise.
