A Super Sunday with Birmingham City Ladies FC

As principal partners and proud front of shirt sponsors, Maple Products from Quebec visited the ladies’ home ground at Solihull Moors on Sunday, October 1 as the Blues ran out 2-1 winners against Everton Ladies FC.

To mark the launch of the ladies’ home campaign, we offered one lucky competition winner the chance to lead the squad out prior to kick off of the FA Women’s Super League fixture. Our winning mascot could not have been a better pick – she lives and breathes football and got the chance to meet all of her heroes as well as getting her hands on the new ‘Maple Products from Quebec’ home strip.

Our half-time lunch was dished up by Canadian street food specialists Blue Caribou Canteen. We invited the award-winning, authentic, Québec-style poutinerie to highlight the use of maple in great tasting food to the near 900 strong crowd – their food was a big hit!

The match itself was a hard-fought affair, with Everton’s young squad ultimately being outclassed by the Blues despite clawing a goal back in the second half. Birmingham were solid in defence and eventually saw out an important first victory – it must have been all that maple we’ve been fuelling them with!

Following the final whistle, Maple Products from Quebec were invited to name the Player of the Match, which we awarded to defender Aoife Mannion.

Did you know ?

Québec exports its maple products to more than 50 countries.

Everywhere it goes, consumers of all ages appreciate maple’s unique flavour.

Scientists are studying maple’s potential health benefits.

Studies now underway include those on the antioxidant properties of the polyphenols naturally present in maple syrup.

Maple syrup can be used as a sugar substitute in most recipes.

In cake and most dessert recipes, for each 250ml (1 cup) of syrup used, simply reduce the stipulated amount of liquid (water, milk, juice, etc.) by 60ml (1/4 cup).
