Maple Quebec Smash

Alcoholic/Cocktails / Quick and easy / Summer

1 portion

  • 50ml Canadian Whisky
  • 25ml Lemon Juice
  • Dash of Grapefruit Bitters
  • 12.5ml pure maple syrup (preferably dark syrup for its robust taste)
  • 8-10 mint leaves

  1. Add whisky, lemon juice, grapefruit bitters and maple syrup to a shaker with ice
  2. Shake for ten seconds or until the shaker is frosty
  3. Strain the liquid into a rocks glass and top with crushed ice
  4. Garnish with a sprig of mint

This classic tipple with a maple twist is short, refreshing and simple to make. The robust, dark maple syrup complements the bitter fruit juices perfectly, adding a depth of flavour.

Try switching to cordial and soda to make a delicious mocktail!

More about Maple

The colour and flavour of maple syrup changes in subtle ways during the seasonal harvest.

At the start of the sugaring season, the syrup is generally clear, with a light, sweet taste. It becomes darker with a caramelised flavour as the season progresses throughout the spring.

An unopened can of maple syrup keeps for many years.

Once the can is opened, syrup should be kept in an airtight container in a cool place.

100% pure maple butter doesn't contain any butter, or dairy products.

Like all 100% pure maple products, maple butter comes from the sap of the maple tree – that’s all.
