Maple sundae
1 portion

Ingredients

  • 30ml maple syrup (preferably amber syrup for its rich taste)
  • Several scoops of your favourite flavour ice cream
  • 50g fresh fruit of your choice (strawberries, raspberries, melon, peaches, pear, kiwi and banana all work well)

Method

  1. Pour 25ml maple syrup into a pan. Bring to the boil and be sure to keep a close eye on it
  2. Simmer until a drop of hot syrup crystallises in a glass of very cold water
  3. Serve in a sundae glass or jam jar, layer your ice cream, fruit and maple syrup

Combining hot maple syrup, fresh fruit and cool ice cream, this maple sundae is the perfect decedent treat.

More about maple

The colour and flavour of maple syrup changes in subtle ways during the seasonal harvest

At the start of the sugaring season, the syrup is generally clear, with a light, sweet taste. It becomes darker with a caramelised flavour as the season progresses throughout the spring.

An unopened can of maple syrup keeps for many years

Once the can is opened, syrup should be kept in an airtight container in a cool place.

Maple spread doesn't contain any butter or dairy products

Like all 100% pure maple products, maple spread comes from the sap of the maple tree that’s all.
