Ingredients
- 2 onions, finely minced
- 1 tsp oil
- 30 g butter
- 125 ml white wine or cider
- 125 ml pure Canadian maple syrup
- salt and pepper, to taste
For the pork chops
- 4 x 150 g pork chops
- salt and pepper, to taste (for seasoning before grilling)
Method
Maple caramelised onions
- In a saucepan, caramelise the onions in oil and butter on low heat until soft and browned.
- Deglaze the pan with white wine or cider and reduce by half.
- Add the maple syrup and season with salt and pepper.
- Continue cooking until the sauce thickens.
Pork chops
- Grill the pork chops after seasoning with salt and pepper, until cooked through and slightly charred.
To serve
- Serve the pork chops topped with the maple caramelised onions.
