Hot Buttered Maple Rum

Hot buttered maple rum 4 (1)

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp maple syrup (preferably amber for its rich taste)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ orange zest
  • 100ml dark rum
  • 3 tbsp melted unsalted butter
  • 2 cinnamon sticks, to serve

Method

  1. Combine the ground cinnamon, vanilla extract, orange zest and nutmeg in a small bowl, then gradually pour in the maple syrup, rum and melted butter and stir together
  2. Divide the mixture in two glasses
  3. Top each glass with 100ml boiling water and stir well
  4. Garnish with two cinnamon sticks and serve
