From potato salad to mushroom shawarma, we have a range of vegetarian BBQ recipes that you can make from scratch at home. Each is enriched with the deep flavour of pure Canadian maple syrup, helping to sweeten your summer BBQ.

Miso and maple-glazed corn

Corn on the cob is a staple of all good BBQs, and it doesn’t get much better than this! Made with a miso and maple butter, our corn on the cob recipe takes this classic BBQ side dish to another level!

The butter, which consists of miso paste, maple syrup, soy sauce and unsalted butter, is brushed onto the corn ears as they cook on the grill. The corn is then garnished with chopped shallots and chilli flakes, adding a spicy kick that blends perfectly with the subtly sweet butter.

Maple parmesan garlic potato parcels

Garlic, parmesan and pure maple syrup – what’s not to like about these incredible potato parcels? Not only do they boast an immensely rich flavour, but they’re also very simple to make and require only a handful of easy-to-obtain ingredients.

The process consists of mixing the ingredients with some chopped potatoes in a bowl, laying the potatoes out on some tin foil and then leaving them to cook on the grill for around 45 minutes. The simplistic nature of the recipe ensures that anyone, at every level of cooking, can create it.

Grilled maple and balsamic mushrooms shawarma

Made with fresh and healthy ingredients, this grilled maple and balsamic mushroom shawarma serves as an excellent vegetarian option for your summer BBQ – it truly tastes as good as any skewered meat!

To prepare the mushroom shawarma recipe, start by whisking together balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, garlic, maple syrup and pepper. This richly flavoured sauce is then drizzled over the skewered mushrooms, which are then grilled for 2–3 minutes on each side.

The combination of sweet, salty and slightly acidic flavours in the marinade is what makes this recipe, with the maple syrup lending a subtle sweetness that pairs wonderfully with the texture of the grilled mushrooms.

New potato salad with maple mustard dressing

No BBQ is complete without a fresh and well-put-together potato salad. Featuring a maple mustard dressing, our potato salad recipe strikes a fine balance between sweet and savoury flavours to form a wonderful vegetarian dish for your summer BBQ.

To create the recipe, you only need to set aside 15 minutes for boiling the potatoes. While the potatoes are boiling, chop the onions and mix the remaining ingredients together in a bowl. Once the new potatoes have been stirred into the bowl and drizzled with olive oil, the salad is ready to serve.

Red cabbage, tahini and maple slaw

Looking for a healthy, colourful side to serve at your summer BBQ? Enriched with a tahini, lemon and maple syrup dressing, this red cabbage slaw is packed with flavour and sure to catch the eye of your guests.

Another deceptively simple recipe, the slaw is made by mixing carrots, courgettes, red cabbage, red onion, and sesame seeds in one bowl and tahini, lemon juice, olive oil and maple syrup in another. The cabbage mix is then added to the slaw, with toasted hazelnuts garnished on top.
