One of the beauties of this recipe is you can make it your own by simply swapping the apple and pecans, and garnish with your favourite fruit and nuts.

Method

In a bowl, pour the lemon juice over the fruit and leave to stand.

Mix the water, salt, oatmeal, cinnamon and nutmeg in a large saucepan.

Bring to a boil and cook, stirring constantly, for approximately 5 minutes.

Pour the hot oatmeal into bowls, divide the milk and maple syrup and then garnish with the fruit and nuts.

  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 2 apples or pears, cubed
  • 1L water
  • Pinch of salt
  • 500ml quick oats
  • Pinch of cinnamon
  • Pinch of nutmeg
  • 125ml milk
  • 250ml pure maple syrup
  • 125ml pecans, crushed
